Winter gardening
One of my favorite rewards of gardening is that my daughter Sage loves eating vegetables, since we get them fresh from the ground. (One day this past summer she was running around the back yard yelling "I love spinach!" What 4-year-old does that?) And I've been bemoaning the fact that over the last few months Sage's veggie consumption has plummeted. So today I decided to do some winter gardening, growing micro greens and a mesclun mix under grow lights in our den, where Sage can watch them grow and help me harvest them. Micro greens take only 25 days to reach harvest, so I hope to continue to sow the seeds every few weeks until Spring.
